The TSR Ltd Fan Content Policy explains how players, artists, streamers, writers and content creators may share their passion for TSR games while respecting our intellectual property and trademarks.

Tabletop role-playing games thrive because of the communities built around them. TSR Ltd encourages players and creators to produce original fan content that celebrates our games, shares experiences and inspires new adventures.

This policy explains what types of fan-created content are generally permitted, when additional permission is required and how our intellectual property is protected.

Official Policy

Fan Content Guidelines

The following guidance applies to fan-created content based upon TSR Ltd games, settings and publications.

SECTION 1

Purpose

The purpose of this Fan Content Policy is to encourage community creativity while protecting the intellectual property, trademarks, artwork, settings and original creative works developed by TSR Ltd.

We want players, artists, writers and content creators to celebrate our games through original work while ensuring that official TSR Ltd products remain clearly distinguishable from unofficial fan creations.

SECTION 2

What Is Fan Content?

Fan Content is original work created by members of the community that is inspired by TSR Ltd games but is not published or endorsed by TSR Ltd.

Examples include livestreams, gameplay videos, podcasts, fan artwork, blogs, reviews, campaign journals, community events, painted miniatures and educational content.

SECTION 3

Using TSR Ltd Intellectual Property

TSR Ltd encourages the creation of original fan content based on our games, provided that such content respects our intellectual property rights. This policy does not grant ownership or licensing rights to TSR Ltd Product Identity.

Product Identity includes, but is not limited to:

TSR Ltd names, logos and trademarks.
Official artwork, illustrations and graphic assets.
Published books and written content.
Characters, locations, settings and original storylines.
Unique monsters, factions and organisations.
Any material specifically identified as protected intellectual property.

Fan creators may reference TSR games when discussing or reviewing them, but must not present their work as official TSR Ltd material or imply endorsement by TSR Ltd.

SECTION 4

Videos, Streaming & Online Content

TSR Ltd welcomes livestreams, recorded gameplay, actual-play series, reviews and educational content covering our games.

Creators may monetise videos using standard platform programmes (such as YouTube Partner Program or Twitch subscriptions), provided the content remains primarily transformative, commentary-based or educational in nature.

Creators should:

Clearly identify their work as unofficial.
Credit TSR Ltd where appropriate.
Avoid distributing copyrighted rulebooks or artwork.
Respect platform terms of service and applicable copyright law.

SECTION 5

Fan Artwork & Creative Projects

Artists are welcome to create original artwork inspired by TSR Ltd games.

Examples include:

Original character illustrations.
Creature concepts.
Maps and campaign artwork.
Cosplay photography.
Miniature painting showcases.
Crafting and terrain-building projects.

Artwork must remain clearly unofficial and must not reproduce substantial portions of official TSR Ltd artwork or design assets.

SECTION 6

Community Groups & Fan Websites

TSR Ltd fully supports independent communities dedicated to discussion, organisation of games and promotion of tabletop role-playing.

Examples include:

Discord servers.
Facebook groups.
Reddit communities.
Community forums.
Campaign management websites.
Fan wikis and knowledge bases.

Community websites should clearly state that they are unofficial fan projects and are not operated by TSR Ltd.

SECTION 7

Commercial Fan Content

Commercial products based upon TSR Ltd intellectual property require appropriate licensing or written permission unless otherwise permitted under the TSR Open Game License or other published creator programmes.

Examples requiring permission include:

Printed books and adventures.
Merchandise.
Commercial digital products.
Official partnerships.
Advertising using TSR Ltd trademarks.

Creators wishing to publish commercial material should consult the TSR Ltd Open Game License, Creator Agreement and Compatibility Guidelines before release.

SECTION 8

Enforcement

TSR Ltd reserves the right to request the removal, modification or cessation of any fan content that breaches this policy, infringes intellectual property, misuses trademarks or falsely implies an official relationship with TSR Ltd.

Examples include, but are not limited to:

Using TSR Ltd logos without permission.
Selling copyrighted TSR Ltd artwork or publications.
Publishing offensive, defamatory or unlawful material associated with TSR Ltd.
Presenting unofficial products as official TSR Ltd releases.
Using TSR Ltd intellectual property in a manner likely to mislead consumers.

Where appropriate, TSR Ltd may contact creators to resolve issues before taking further action. Serious or repeated infringements may result in legal action where necessary to protect TSR Ltd intellectual property.

SECTION 9

Applicable Law

This Fan Content Policy is governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Any disputes arising from the interpretation or application of this policy shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales unless otherwise required by applicable law.

Nothing within this policy limits any rights or remedies available to TSR Ltd under United Kingdom intellectual property legislation, including the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, the Trade Marks Act 1994 and other applicable legislation.
